DSC's Social Change Awards launched

19/09/08

Voluntary sector organisations and individuals making a positive impact on society are invited to enter DSC's 2008 Social Change Awards.

Directory of Social Change chief executive Debra Allcock Tyler said: "We want to celebrate passionate individuals and effective organisations that are committed to achieving social change."

"The awards are fun, informal and inclusive. We encourage people to nominate themselves, their organisations or others."

Individuals, community groups, companies, public bodies or charities are invited to apply for the Everyday Impact Award, the Influencer Award, Investing in Social Change Award and the Public Body Award.

The Everyday Impact Award will acknowledge an individual or organisation whose clear vision for change has achieved results that are felt on a daily basis.

The Influencer Award will recognise an individual or organisation that has actively influenced or campaigned for social change.

The Social Change Award will honour an individual or organisation that has invested time, money or skills to achieve social change.

The Public Body Award will identify a public body that has worked effectively with their community to achieve shared social change objectives.

DSC will shortlist three nominees for each award and invite the public to vote online. Winners will be announced at DSC's Social Change Conference on 8 December 2008.

To enter or nominate, visit www.socialchangeawards.org.uk. Applications and nominations close on 17 October.
