The mental health anti-discrimination programme previously
known as Moving People, has changed its new name to Time
to Change, following an extensive consultation.
The consultancy period has seen a consultancy company work
closely with the consortium’s members: Mental Health
Media, Mind, Rethink and the Institute of Psychiatry, to
create a new name and identity for the campaign.
The consortium was awarded a £16m grant by the Big
Lottery Fund and £2m from Comic Relief to run an ambitious
programme to change public attitudes towards mental illness
and counter discrimination against people who experience
mental health problems.
A temporary name, Moving People, and logo was put in place,
with the intention of creating a full brand identity to
provide a lynchpin for the programme later in the year.
The launch of Time to Change comes as activity for the
campaign steps up a pace, including a new website carrying
the new identity, and ‘Get Moving’ mass participation
events due to be launched in October, and the creative development
phase of a £7.5m social marketing campaign launching
in January next year.
