The shadow chancellor, George Osborne, has launched a report
highlighting how Labour’s policies have made Britain
more unfair.
He said that a decade of top-down, state control has created
an unfair Britain:
• The number of people in severe poverty has increased
by 900,000 since 1997
• Gordon Brown’s stealth taxes mean the poorest
now pay more of their income in tax than the richest
• The gap in life expectancy between rich and poor
is now at its widest since the Victorian era
• Educational inequality is getting worse
Osborne promised a Conservative Government would make Britain
a fairer place to live, by using Conservative means to achieve
fair and progressive goals.
